Who We Are
The National Employment Council for the Funeral Industry is a regulatory organisation established in 2015 under Zimbabwe's Labour Act [Chapter 28:01].
It oversees employment standards, labour relations and workplace practices in Zimbabwe's funeral services and funeral assurance sector.
NECFI provides a platform through which employers and employees can discuss matters affecting the funeral industry. Its responsibilities include promoting fair employment practices, promoting safe working conditions, encouraging compliance with labour laws, developing industry-specific employment regulations and guidelines, promoting harmonious industrial relations, resolving employment disputes, facilitating collective bargaining, supporting sustainable wages, benefits and working conditions, and maintaining good relationships among funeral-industry stakeholders.
NECFI handles disputes through conciliation, mediation, arbitration and determinations.

What is an NEC?
A Bipartite Labour Relations Body
A National Employment Council (NEC) is a bipartite body established under the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01] that brings together representatives from employers' organisations and workers' unions to promote:
- Social dialogue and cooperation
- Fair labour standards
- Dispute prevention and resolution
- Collective bargaining
- Good governance in the labour market
In Zimbabwe the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01] regulates the formation and operations of Employment Councils.
